| 6/1/03 | Seattle Race For The Cure (Seattle, WA) | 27:20 | unknown | First ever race. Had plantar fasciitis, couldn't train properly |
| 6/6/04 | Seattle Race For The Cure (Seattle, WA) | 21:13 | 7/124 in age group, 46/888 for all males |
Over 2 minutes per mile faster than previous year |
| 9/25/04 | Northwest Trek Run Wild (Eatonville, WA) | 20:10 | 1st in age group, 10/126 overall |
1 week before Portland Marathon |
| 4/30/05 | Redmond Hawk Walk (Redmond, WA) | 20:18 | 1st in age/gender group, 24/209 overall |
Speed work for marathon training - Hadn't planned on running this fast with sore calf. Probably could have PR'd if I started in the right spot. Had to weave through people for the first 5 minutes |
| 5/14/05 | Loop at the Lake (Seattle, WA) | 20:21 | 8/94 overall | Hadn't trained in 3 weeks. Still a decent time. |
| 6/4/05 | Seattle Race For The Cure (Seattle, WA) | 20:54 | 4/99 age group, 23/624 for all males, 24/1460 overall |
Annual tradition - no training for 7 weeks previous (injury). Not a bad time under those conditions. Still 19 seconds faster than the year before! |
| 9/24/05 | Tom Wales Community 5K (Seattle, WA) | 19:32 (4.5K) |
4/14 age group, 7/94 for all males 8/191 overall |
Run with friends. I was on PR pace and somehow my group got redirected and didn't run the official course (I think we ended up running 3 miles). So this time doesn't count. Besides, after the error was discovered (about 1.25 miles in) I didn't run hard. I don't really count this time, but the place is probably accurate. |
| 10/09/05 | Woodinville Country Slough Run (Woodinville, WA) | 17:32 (4.5K) |
3/26 in age group, 7/199 for all males, 7/430 overall |
Would you believe this course was messed up to. The Volunteers set the turnaround point too early, making this course a little under .3 mile short. At the pace I was running, I probably would have finished 19:15-19:30, a new PR. Oh well, I'll try again at Toys for Tots, which will be hilly. If not, maybe I find one in December... |
| 11/19/05 | Thanksgiving Dash 5K (Olympia, WA) | 20:07* | Finished second overall | I wasn't in the best of shape for this one, but I still PR'd. Would have had faster PRs if the 5Ks I ran before were fully 5Ks. This race marks a hiatus for me. I need a break for a long while. |

| 11/20/04 | Thanksgiving Dash (Olympia, WA) | 47:28 | 2nd in male age group, 8/47 overall |
Was sick during race, and did not train. Not a good time, but my first 10K! |
| 8/28/05 | Lynnwood Hi-5 (Lynnwood, WA) | 45:26* | 5/10 in male age group, 13/37 for all males, 15/70 overall |
Good place to see where I am after recovering from my injury. And to get more experience with pacing for 10ks. Pretty tough course, and I'm happy with my progress so far. The only PR I expect this racing year after injuries. |
| Half Marathon (13.1 miles) | ||||
| 9/6/04 | Super Jock 'n Jill Half Marathon (Woodinville, WA) | 1:37:26 | 31/75 in male age group, 164/649 for all males, 199/1197 overall |
PR. Flat fast course. First Half Marathon - longest distance I'd ever run at this point |
| 3/20/05 | Mercer Island Half Marathon (Mercer Island, WA) | 1:41:51 | 28/73 in male age group, 210/742 for all males, 258/1300 overall |
Hilly, windy course. Fairly tough. Towards beginning of training season |
| 4/16/05 | Toe Jam Hill Half Marathon (Bainbridge Island, WA) | 1:43:58 | 4th in male age group, 11th overall |
Unbelievably tough course. Many hills, some really steep. Glad to have finished! |
| 9/5/05 | Super Jock 'n Jill Half Marathon (Woodinville, WA) | 1:34:51* | 29/95 male age group, 135/625 for all males, 161/1153 overall |
This was my return to distance running after injury. I had only been training for 5 weeks, but something told me to go for a PR around mile 3 and I surprised myself with this PR. Maybe this year won't be a lost year for PRs after all! My new training program seems to be working. |
| Marathon (26.2 miles) | ||||
| 10/3/04 | Portland Marathon (Portland, OR) | 3:39:02 | 83/294 in male age group, 669/2707 for all males, 832/5838 total |
First ever marathon! Seriously hit the wall at mile 19! |
| 6/12/05 | North Olympic Discovery Marathon (Sequim, WA) | 3:58:01 | 5/13 in male age group, 105/238 for all males, 147/439 overall |
Injury stopped my training for 2 months prior. I could only run once a week! Still I had already paid for this so I decided to run it anyway. Not a bad time. Had I been able to train I probably would have been below 3:30. Had some bad cramping and hit the wall a bit around mile 22, but I'm very happy to finish, considering I hadn't been running, I had and injury, and I was sick (and on medication!) |
| 10/22/05 | Halloween Marathon (Olympia, WA) | 3:18:02* | 3/32 overall, 1st in age group |
The course was fairly flat, and even though this was my fastest marathon, it also seemed pretty easy. I might have been able to run it faster, but I am more than happy with the time. Only had a little cramping at mile 25 that slowed me down a bit, but otherwise - no wall! I'm getting closer to qualifying for Boston! I have PRs this year at all my distances except a 5K... |
